Full Description: 1957 Volkswagen Lowlight Karmann Ghia

Up for auction is my 1957 VW Karmann Ghia Coupe. A very early Ghia, in an even rarer color, this Ghia will be a headturner when finished. Figuring out the value of something like this is difficult, so I am letting the eBay community decide what the value is with this no reserve auction. High bidder takes all!

The Ghia was stripped to a shell, all parts tagged/bagged and stored in containers. There are 3 bins of parts, all seats with original upholstery, original carpeting, original door panels! This includes everything except bumpers, but can include both front and rear bumpers to the winning bidder. There is also a box of new parts that go along with the ghia - rubber items, trim, emblem, etc. Original front, rear side and door glass is also included. Many pictures were taken of the car before, during and after painting, showing where all parts were originally installed. The body had spots of rust on the lower nose, as well as on the rear fenders. ALL rust was removed, and new panels were fabricated, welded and finished before bodywork. The primers, sealers, basecoats and clearcoat are all PPG products. The red is a PPG basecoat mixed to match VW's "Sealing Wax Red", found on early Deluxes, while the brown is a PPG basecoat mixed to match VW's "Chestnut Brown", also found on early Deluxes. All doors, decklid, hood, small parts were painted and cleared. Clearcoat is PPG Concept. There is a blem on the passenger door that can be repainted/spotted. There is approx. 1/2 gallon of basecoat and clear to do any touchup/spotting.

The car has not been colorsanded or polished after getting out of paint, still looks awesome! After detailing, it will look breathtaking!

The engine, transmission, pan are matching numbers, and original to the car. I have not tried to start the engine, but it is complete. Transmission is the original split case tranny. The pan has NO RUST! There is no front end on the car, but I can supply the winning bidder with a 4" narrowed BJ beam, trailing arms, dropped spindles and brakes.
