Full Description: 1958 Karmann Ghia Lowlight Coupe, Tasteful Multiple Magazine Feature and Show Winner!
Here is a very nicely done mild custom Low Light Karmann Ghia that has recently been featured in Hot VW's Magazine, Japan's Let's Play VW's Magazine, and it won both First Place in the Karmann Ghia class and Promoter's Choice at Bugorama, the only Volkswagen show it has attended to date.
The owner's vision was to build a stylish high performance early Ghia that had several custom touches to make it a bit like a "Little Porsche". The car was a no-expense-spared professional build by the guys at Kustom Coach Werks in Colorado and as you can see, it is an impressive and unique example!
Some of the many features and upgrades include:
* Beautiful Polar Silver paint
* 2276cc Dual Carbed Engine with loads of quality components, Dyno'ed at 130 rear wheel horsepower
* Built Transaxle
* 4 Wheel Porsche 944 Turbo Disc Brakes
* Polished Porsche Wheels with Yokohama tires
* Dark Chocolate Leather Interior
* Porsche 356 A Steering Wheel
* Matching Tachometer
* And much more!
This car started as an exceptionally solid base that was purchased from the famous Tom Tom collection out of Moab, Utah. It was completely bare-metaled, all rust was cut out and properly welded, body work was handled to a high standard, and the Volkswagen Polar Silver paint was sprayed, wet sanded, and buffed to a brilliant shine. Even the underside of the car was beautifully painted with the suspension components all being powder coated, freshly painted, or replated as you can see. No shortcuts were taken during the build of this Ghia!
The interior has been finished in a tasteful dark chocolate leather and features include the genuine Porsche 356 steering wheel, all restored gauges including the custom matching tachometer, German square weave carpeting, early Ghia rear view mirror, and a Blaupunkt radio, too.
Mechanically the car is completely fresh with a powerful and quality 2276cc engine, dual Weber 48IDF carburetors, dynamically balanced rotating assembly from Paradise VW, Porsche 911 style fan shroud, A-1 sidewinder exhaust system, MSD ignition system, and much more! The engine was dyno'ed at 130 rear wheel horsepower and the video of the pull can be seen below...
